Another Year

Some time last summer I just got busy and abandoned this blog. Hopefully I will do better in 2012. That is what a new year is all about, don’t you think? Starting over. So here we are, back to normal hours at the store, the craziness of the holidays almost over (still have New Year’s Eve) and new beginnings.

Retail Seasons

This is an older post that never got published for some reason.

Although we have had probably three nice “summer” days so far in New Hampshire, in the retail world we are thinking about fall. On Friday we had a wide range of products come in. Some very summery windchimes – capiz shell chimes, bamboo, coconut shell etc. All very tropical looking and sounding. In another box was the first of our holiday orders-mostly linens. We hid that order in our back room with the assumption that you wouldn’t want to look at it, yet. The other order with fall linens, fall colored pie plates, mixing bowls etc. is out as the first of our fall offerings.

It certainly provides challenges when we have three seasons colliding but it is one of the things I love most about my job.

Father’s Day

What do I get Dad?

Often we hear people say how difficult it is to find a gift for a man. Here are a few suggestions. Maybe one of these may work for Dad, Grandpa or Husband for Father’s Day.

Birdfeeders-Recently retired? Bird watching is a very popular hobby.

Books- Some titles they might enjoy include: “300 Beers to try before you die” by Roger Protz , “The Sausage Cookbook Bible” by Ellen Brown, “Seduced by Bacon” by Joanna Pruess, “Where Cool Waters Flow, Four Seasons with a Master Maine Guide” by Randy Spencer, “Fishing’s Strangest Day” by Tom Quinn and by John McDonald- ”A Moose and a lobster walk in to a bar”, and “Down the road a piece”. We also have all the Fritz Wetherbee books including his newest book “As Seen On TV”.

Signs- Does your man have a man cave (aka a room in the basement)? We have some really humorous signs with topics ranging from beer, sports, b-que, garage etc. Pssst….. June 12 – June 19 the signs will be on sale for 40% off. Another great idea for the man cave are Man Cave Candles. The candles are poured in pint size beer glasses and fragrances include: Deer Camp Ale, Lights Out, and Final Final.

Bath Products- We carry some nice bath and body products for men from Caswell & Massey. We have a traditional Bay Rum aftershave. In Sandalwood we have a bath gel, talc, lotion, and soap and in the Newport Collection we have a shower gel and soap on the rope.
